Teaching & Learning
Our programme is developed using the NZ Early Childhood Curriculum “Te Whariki” and “Kei te Tua o te Pae”.
We believe children should have a balance of individual, small group, and large group activities and have both spontaneous and teacher led activities. Small group activities are often based on age groups or special topics which interest a particular set of children or events unique to Aotearoa New Zealand.
Each age group has an appropriate programme and all children should have experiences and gain knowledge in numeracy and literacy while at Citylimits.
The programme information is readily available and each week “A week that was photo board” is put up. We have a wide range of educationally appropriate toys and equipment. Children in Preschool have the opportunity to utilise our Library and take books home weekly.
There is a balance between rest and quiet periods, and vigorous outdoor activities. Children have the opportunity to play outside every day weather permitting. Friendships made at Citylimits may last a life time.
We have some trips away from the centre during the year to enhance our educational programme. Parents are always advised and permission is sought for all trips.
English as a Second Language (ESOL)
We welcome children from other cultures who have English as their second language. With total emersion in the programme we find children learn English very quickly and are soon fluent.
We are happy to provide special meals for religious considerations e.g. halal meat
We have information written in Korean and Hindi for those who require it.
Please consider Citylimits for your family
